Spring recess, often referred to as "spring break" in the US, is a vacation period for schools and universities, typically occurring in early spring. It's a time when students take a break from classes, and it often coincides with the Easter holiday.

Our 7th grade students will participate in a field trip to The City College of New York (CCNY), a senior college of the City University of New York (CUNY) located in Harlem. During this visit, students will have the opportunity to explore a college campus, learn about academic programs, and gain insight into college life.
This field trip is important because it helps students begin thinking about their future educational goals at an early age. Visiting a college campus allows students to visualize themselves as future college students and understand the steps needed to reach that goal. Exposure to higher education environments supports motivation, builds confidence, and encourages a college‑going mindset.
Additionally, CCNY’s rich history, diverse student population, and strong academic programs make it an ideal setting for our students to see how education can open doors to leadership, innovation, and career opportunities. The trip also connects to middle‑school learning goals by promoting critical thinking, goal setting, and civic pride, especially as CCNY is a historic institution within New York City.
Overall, this experience will inspire students, broaden their perspectives, and reinforce the importance of education beyond middle school.
